Preparing US Military Veterans for Success in Live Audio Engineering

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our first cohort of the OC Music & Dance Operation Gig Live Audio Engineering Certification Program! This 8-week course was designed specifically for US military veterans who want to embark on a career in live sound reinforcement.

Our program was tailored to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for students to become successful sound operators in a variety of venues. Throughout the course, students explored the science of sound production and acoustics and learned mic and cable placement and care, how to set up and run analog and digital mixing consoles for live sound, and how to use instrument amplifiers and PA systems.

In addition to classroom learning, our students also gained real-world experience with Orange County venues. This hands-on experience allowed our students to apply the knowledge and skills learned in class and get a feel for the industry. This experience, coupled with our comprehensive course materials, gave our students a competitive edge in the live sound reinforcement field.

Upon completion of the course, students who attended all classes and demonstrated sufficient mastery of essential technical requirements became eligible for a paid internship. OCMD coordinated with venues and production companies to support interns on their crews.

We are proud to say that our first cohort of graduates are now fully equipped to take on the world of live sound. We are excited to see our graduates put their skills to work and take the next step in their careers. Congratulations to our first cohort of graduates, and we look forward to the success that lies ahead for them!

If you are a US military veteran and are interested in pursuing a career in live sound reinforcement, keep an eye out for an announcement for our next cohort of the OC Music & Dance Operation Gig Live Audio Engineering Certification Program.
